The Canadian Express Entry system seems to have taken the entire world by storm what with the response to the programme so far being mind-blowing. With one stroke, Ottawa seems to have beaten all competition to draw finest and most trained workers from all across the globe and come out triumphant. This programme that increases the pace of applicants’ petition processing is indeed what the doctor has ordered.
Skilled immigrants are basically those who are chosen as Canada Permanent Residents based on their skills and ability to live and work in the country and actively participate in its economy. They are assessed on the various factors, such as language, age, education and experience.
For skilled immigrants the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has introduced a new system that has determined how skilled workers will immigrate to the Maple Leaf Country and it is known as the Express Entry System.
Skilled Immigrants Fill Out Your Profile (Express Entry)!
Under the Express Entry system, applicants should fill online profile answering the set of questions on the basis of their education, language, age and experience. The information provided by the aspirants will be used in order to determine if they are eligible for Canada immigration. They may easily fill their profile at any time–that too without any costs.
On the basis of their profile, they will be placed in the Express Entry Pool against other applicants, and as per their rank, the CIC will issue an ‘Invitation to Apply’ and they will have 60 days to claim the status of Permanent Residents online.
Once skilled immigrants fill their profile, their application will be processed within six months from the date of the application submission. However filling your profile or entering the Express Entry Pool does not assure in any way that you have applied for Permanent Residency (PR) or will surely receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’.
Skilled immigrants can use Express Entry if they wish to immigrate through following economic programmes:
a) The Federal Skilled Worker Programme (FSWP)
b) The Federal Skilled Trades Programme (FSWP)
c) The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
d) Provincial nominee, in some cases.
Your first step towards Canada Immigration via Express Entry is to determine if you are eligible to enter the Express Entry pool, via an online tool ‘come to Canada’ operational on the CIC official website. If you are c positive, you may fill the Express Entry profile and may successfully enter the Express Entry pool for further consideration.
Before you fill your profile
For skilled immigrants, before you fill your profile (Express Entry) you will have to appear for language test. Your language test score will be used to determine if your language skills are strong enough to help you settle in the Maple Leaf Country.
Secondly, if you have completed your education outside Canada, in that case, you will have to get your education credentials assessed as per the Canadian set standards. You may not have to get your credentials assessed if you have maximum one year experience of working in the overseas immigration hotspot, or else you have an experience in any of the skilled occupations.
Skilled immigrants may fill their profile (Express Entry) using the following methods:
a) Open the official website of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CC), and if you do not have an account, create one by clicking on MyCIC account. You will receive a MyCIC number that you may use if you want to log in, in-future.
b) If you already have a personal reference code obtained by using the tool ‘Come to Canada’, enter it when asked.
c) Lastly submit your profile.
If you meet the criteria for any of the economic programmes, you will duly enter the Express Entry pool, and if you are issued an ‘Invitation to Apply’, you will be notified accordingly which programme to apply for.
